Grants are funds that often do not have to be paid back; they're usually awarded based on need, and sometimes on merit.

Financial Aid 101
Here's how the process generally works:
First, you need to apply for your FAFSA access PIN. Once you have your PIN number you are ready to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is filled out online and the Financial Aid Advisor can assist you with the application process if needed.
After you've submitted the application, we may ask you for additional information to complete your financial aid file. Financial aid applications often involve deadlines, so it is important for you to stay on top of those.
Based on the FAFSA and the other information you provide, LBCI will create a financial aid estimate, called an Estimated Award Letter. The Estimated Award Letter contains a description of the types and amount of aid that you may be eligible to receive.
At this point, if you are applying for loans you may need to submit a loan application. The application information will be included with your financial aid package. If you are pursuing privately funded grants and scholarships make sure to review all of their instructions and eligibility requirements carefully as they often have specific conditions to receive their funds.
Qualifying for financial aid is a step-by-step process, but you will find it to be worth your while. Contact our Campus' Student Finance Department today to learn more about funding your college education or complete your FAFSA here
